Holographic Metal Flake Base Coat

Special Effect Base — Black with Metal Flake

SKU: KF-KFBC-HOLO-MF Categories: ,

A black base coat loaded with holographic metal flake particles. Used as a foundation layer before chameleon or holographic effect coats, this base coat adds extra visual depth and sparkle. The flake catches light from every angle, creating a multi-dimensional foundation.

Description

Holographic finishes use flat, diffraction-grating flake or fine glitter that splits light into a visible rainbow spectrum as your viewing angle changes, rather than reflecting a single colour the way a standard metallic does. A gloss black base coat gives the strongest contrast for that rainbow effect to read clearly against; on lighter bases the diffraction pattern is much harder to see. Controlled, even coats matter more than usual here too, since holographic flake can clump or lie unevenly if applied too heavily in a single pass.

Using the 400ml Aerosol

Ready to spray straight from the can — no mixing required.

  1. Shake the can vigorously for at least 2 minutes before use — the agitator ball inside needs to fully mix the pigment. This is the single most common cause of uneven effects when skipped.
  2. Hold the can 20–30cm (8–12 inches) from the surface and test your spray pattern on cardboard first.
  3. Apply 2–4 thin, even coats rather than one heavy coat, flashing off each coat for around 5 minutes before the next.
  4. After use, invert the can and spray for 2 seconds to clear the nozzle and prevent blockages.
