Red Crystal Pearl

Price range: £14.95 through £60.00

Crystal Pearl · Rich Red Shimmer · Over Black or White Base

SKU: KF-PC-RED Category:

A classic, rich red crystal pearl. Over black it becomes a deep wine-burgundy with a fine metallic sparkle; over white it stays a bold, bright scarlet. Timeless on custom cars and motorcycles — 2–4 even coats for a consistent pearl orientation.

Aerosol vs. spray gun: The 400ml can is ready-mixed — shake well and spray straight from the can. The 100ml, 250ml, 500ml and 1L sizes are concentrate for a spray gun: shake thoroughly, then mix 1:1 with reducer/thinner (equal parts paint and thinner) before spraying.

Description

Pearl paint uses mica or synthetic pearlescent particles that reflect and refract light rather than simply absorbing it the way solid pigment does. Over a dark base coat those particles create a rich, three-dimensional shimmer that shifts with the light and your viewing angle; the same pearl over a lighter base gives a much softer, pastel result, since there is less contrast for the particles to play against. Even, overlapping coats matter more than usual with pearls — inconsistent film build shows up as visible patchiness (mottling) rather than a smooth, uniform shimmer.

Base coat: Black Gloss Base Coat
Clear coat: Etalon Clearcoat Lacquer

Using the 400ml Aerosol

Ready to spray straight from the can — no mixing required.

  1. Shake the can vigorously for at least 2 minutes before use — the agitator ball inside needs to fully mix the pigment. This is the single most common cause of uneven effects when skipped.
  2. Hold the can 20–30cm (8–12 inches) from the surface and test your spray pattern on cardboard first.
  3. Apply 2–4 thin, even coats rather than one heavy coat, flashing off each coat for around 5 minutes before the next.
  4. After use, invert the can and spray for 2 seconds to clear the nozzle and prevent blockages.

Using the Spray Gun Mix

This concentrate needs thinning before it will spray correctly through a gun — it is not ready to use straight from the tin.

  1. Shake thoroughly, then mix at a 1:1 ratio with reducer/thinner (equal parts paint and thinner) as a starting point — add a little more thinner if the mix still feels thick.
  2. Use an HVLP spray gun fitted with a 1.3–1.5mm tip, at roughly 20–30 PSI.
  3. Always spray a test card first and adjust the fan width and fluid control before touching your actual surface.
  4. Hold the gun 15–20cm (6–8 inches) from the surface, moving in smooth, overlapping passes with around 50% overlap.
