Description
Holographic finishes use flat, diffraction-grating flake or fine glitter that splits light into a visible rainbow spectrum as your viewing angle changes, rather than reflecting a single colour the way a standard metallic does. A gloss black base coat gives the strongest contrast for that rainbow effect to read clearly against; on lighter bases the diffraction pattern is much harder to see. Controlled, even coats matter more than usual here too, since holographic flake can clump or lie unevenly if applied too heavily in a single pass.
